Agenda Item No. ______________
Washburn University Board of Regents
SUBJECT:Approval of statements pertaining to the accreditation of the Mulvane Art Museum.
DESCRIPTION: The Mulvane Art Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM). As part of the accreditation review process, the AAM requires the Mulvane to submit documentation of: (1) the mission statement of the museum; (2) a code of ethics; (3) a resolution of permanence for the museum; (4) delegation of authority by the governing board to the museum director for the day-to-day operation of the museum; (5) job descriptions of all museum staff members; and (6) a strategic plan. (Note: The strategic plan essentially comes from the Mulvane's program review document.) The proposed documentation is attached.
No new procedures or policies are represented by these statements, though some represent the codification of existing practices.
The AAM requires as part of the accreditation review that these statements be approved by the governing board. We must report to AAM the date of approval along with the attached documents.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend that the Washburn University Board of Regents approve the attached statements pertaining to the Mulvane Art Museum.
