SUBJECT: Revisions to Classified Compensation Schedule





DESCRIPTION:



Each year the University Director of Human Resources reviews the University's wage and hour employees compensation schedule and compares it with the state of Kansas wages, to determine whether adjustments should be made to the University's compensation schedule.



Proposed changes include: addition of a new classification to provide additional promotional and career ladder opportunities for University classified employees, elimination of duplicate classifications, and a revision to the Title Codes.



Office Assistant I (currently Office Assistant) Current Entry Rate $10.05 Maximum $14.17

Office Assistant II (new) Proposed Entry Rate $11.07 Maximum $15.61

Cashier Revised Entry Rate $8.68 Maximum $12.24



DELETE:

Head Cashier Salary Range $9.57 $13.49

Head Cashier Assistant Salary Range $8.68 $12.24

Assistant Cashier Salary Range $7.88 $11.11





Based upon existing conditions, no increase is being proposed to current entry rates. The schedule includes only classifications outside the bargaining units represented by the United Steelworkers, whose wage rates are negotiated in accordance with the Public Employer-Employee Relations Act. The Classified Compensation schedule will become effective July 1, 2002, for fiscal year 2003.

RECOMMENDATION:



President Farley recommends approval of the revisions to the 2002-2003 Classified Compensation Schedule.
