SUBJECT: Plass Street Connection Project

DESCRIPTION:

Bids were received on August 25, 1999 to construct the Plass Street Connection to allow access to all parking lots on the West side of the campus. This project is necessary due to the closing of Jewell Street for the new Living Learning Center.

Plans were issued to three bidders. Two bids were received. They were as follows:

Bid

Graybeal Construction Inc. $79,740.00

Penny Construction Co. $67,704.45

All bids were below the engineer's estimate.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

Expenditure of $67,704.45 from Parking Improvement Fund account 03-00586

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends the Board of Regents approve the award of a contract to Penny Construction Co. Inc. for $67,704.45 to construct the Plass Street Connection.
