SUBJECT: Faculty Personnel
At the end of the spring semester, 2000, Rodney Boyd will retire as Associate Professor of the Music Department after 34 years of service to Washburn University. His contributions and leadership as the Associate Chair have been invaluable to the success and development of the Music Department. Mr. Boyd has former students who are now playing professionally across the country, including the contra-bassoonist for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also been the resident in-department expert in desk-top publishing. His artistic vision is clearly imprinted on all the Music Department's brochures, posters, performance calendars and promotional materials.
The title Associate Professor Emeritus is recommended in recognition of Rodney Boyd's long and distinguished career, his expertise in the area of "bassoon performance", of his tireless efforts on behalf of students, and his record of thirty-four years of contributions to the Department of Music and Washburn University.
President Farley recommends that the Board honor Rodney Boyd with the title, Associate Professor Emeritus.
