SUBJECT: Living Learning Center Project Water Main Relocation


Preliminary site work is necessary prior to beginning actual construction of the Living Learning Center. That site work includes the relocation of utilities that are in the way of the new building. The water main serving the West side of campus is one such utility relocate.

Bids have been received for the relocation of a water main to clear the Living Learning site. This work needs to be completed in advance of the building construction. This relocation must be done this Fall in order to keep the project on schedule. This project includes the relocation of 703 feet of 12-inch line and 271 feet of 8-inch line along with 2 fire hydrants.

The following bids were received:

Emcon, Inc. $57,476.98

Hermann's $66,500.00

Kahle Const. No Bid

Schmidtlein $59,420.00

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This item is within budget as included in the project budget as part of the site preparation.

RECOMMENDATION: President Farley recommends that the Board of Regents approve issuance of a contract for the lowest and best bid to Emcon in the amount of $57,476.98.
