SUBJECT: Digital Television STL Microwave System for KTWU

DESCRIPTION:

KTWU is requesting approval to purchase a digital television STL (studio transmitter link) microwave system. The STL microwave system will transmit both current analog system and a digital television signal to the KTWU transmitter site at 301 SW Wanamaker Road. The equipment is needed for digital television requirements.

Proposals were submitted from the following vendors:

The following vendors submitted proposals but did not include a required bid bond:

Heartland Video Systems, Inc.

NuComm, Inc.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

Funding for the STL microwave system will be from the following:

State of Kansas DTV Bonds, Federal Grant (Public Telecommunications Facilities Program) for DTV, and local funds from capital campaign fundraising.

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends approval to award a contract to Microwave Radio Communications for $89,250.00.
