SUBJECT: NTSC Antenna Replacement for KTWU


KTWU is requesting approval to replace its current 35 year old NTSC Antenna with a new state of the art broadcast antenna. The current antenna is in poor condition and requires replacement to maintain current service and provide for digital television service in the future. The current dual 3-1/8" rigid coaxial transmission line will be replaced with a 4-1/16" rigid coaxial transmission line. The hybrid diplexer that is used to feed the dual 3-1/8" line will be replaced with a notch diplexer to feed the single 4-1/16" transmission line.

The following proposals were received:

RFA Broadcast (Non-responsive proposal,

Failed to submit bid bond with proposal)


Funding for the NTSC replacement antenna will be from the following:

State of Kansas Equipment Grant (allocated in 1999) 50% of purchase price.

Federal Equipment Grant/PTFP (allocated in 1999) 50% of purchase price.


President Farley recommends approval to award a contract to Andrew Corporation for $229,853.20.
