SUBJECT:
Fiber Optic Network for Fire Alarm System.
DESCRIPTION:
As part of the FY 01-02 Capital Improvements, bids were received on the first phase of developing a fiber optic network to connect the fire alarm systems in each campus building. This fiber network will provide better reporting of fire alarm locations and will assist security personnel in responding to any alarm. The new network will also have the capacity to add such things as security cameras and other safety features in the future. The project bids were as follows:

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Expenditure of $141,350 from Capital Improvement Account 03-00302.
RECOMMENDATION:
President Farley recommends the Board of Regents approve the Award of Contracts to Torgeson Electric for $123,700 and to Simplex for $17,650 to install fiber optic network for fire alarm system.
