The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.

Ron Wasserstein welcomed everyone and passed around an attendance sheet. Members introduced themselves.

The committee discussed the Tenets of Technology at Washburn University that was submitted by the Computer subcommittee. Ron explained that about a year ago the committee started thinking about having a one page list of general goals for the campus (this committee’s view of the aims and intentions). This is the document that serves the ETC. A concern was expressed that if the committee commits to this document, can they expect to have adequate resources to fund this policy. There is a need to expand the search for other sources of funding. Debbie Isaacson acknowledged that Anne Liebst supplied a lot of the work and ideas for the document and thanked her. After discussion, Ron suggested that the subcommittee add the wording "and provide training" in bullet point six after "support." The subcommittee may also want to discuss the possibility about adding a statement regarding access for people with disabilities. The goal is to approve the document at the December meeting.

David Bainum talked about the purpose of the Information Technology General Security Policy and the End-User Information Access Systems Security Policy documents that were being proposed by the Computer subcommittee. At this time, these are being presented for discussion only.
