ADJUNCT CLINICAL NURSING INSTRUCTORS - SCHOOL OF NURSING: Washburn University's School of Nursing invites applications for adjunct clinical instructor positions in Med/Surg and Obstetrical Nursing available January 2010. INSTRUCTIONAL LIBRARIAN - UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES: Washburn University invites applications for the position of Instructional Librarian. The University Libraries seek a creative and energetic librarian to assume a leadership role in the development and implementation of an expanding information literacy program within a team-oriented, teaching library environment. The successful candidate will teach information literacy and help coordinate curriculum-integrated information literacy instruction, including delivering and scheduling sessions, assigning instructors, developing instruction programs, and collecting and analyzing data related to library instruction. The incumbent also serves as a subject liaison, with responsibility for collection development and participates in the provision of research services to library users on-site and at a distance (some evening and/or weekend hours required). The design of online instruction, both web-based tutorials and content modules for delivery through the course management system (Angel Learning Systems), will be a strong focus as the Washburn Libraries chart their future for the 21 st Century learning environment.

Washburn University is a comprehensive Masters degree granting institution of about 7400 students, located in the Capital City of Kansas, Topeka. With small class sizes (median upper division class size is 10 students, and an overall student/faculty ratio of 15:1) and outstanding faculty (over 90% having the terminal degree in their field), Washburn is highly ranked as an independent public institution, rated 7 th in the Midwest among public Master's level universities in 2009 by U.S. News and World Report. Requirements:

  • An ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent degree, with a demonstrated commitment to the library as a central institution within the life of the university
  • A demonstrated ability in teaching and a strong commitment to student learning and the application of technology in the effective design and delivery of instruction
  • Familiarity with current trends, standards and technologies in information literacy
  • A strong service orientation, with effective interpersonal, oral, written and online communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rapidly changing and culturally diverse environment
  • The necessary vision and leadership skills to position the Library to meet future needs

Preferred:

  • A Subject Master's degree
  • Experience in reference and library instruction or teaching experience
  • Familiarity with course management systems, such as Angel Learning Systems
  • Experience with assessment of student learning

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
