The Health Sciences Librarian is an integral member of Mabee Library and the ongoing Information Literacy efforts, including teaching in the First Year Experience program at Washburn University. The successful candidate will be expected to create and maintain web-based interactive content, tutorials, learning objects, and reference services that extend library, information guidance, and research assistance and that supplement classroom learning with web-based information mastery opportunities. An important facet of this position will be developing instructional sessions, tailored for specific programs or courses that focus on how to search, review, and extract data from multiple sources.
Requirements:
- An ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent degree, with a demonstrated commitment to the library as a central institution within the life of the university
- A demonstrated ability in teaching and a strong commitment to student learning and the application of technology in the effective design and delivery of instruction
- Familiarity with current trends, standards and technologies in information literacy
- A strong service orientation with effective interpersonal, oral, written and online communication skills
