A Forum of Student Research, Scholarship,
and Creativity*
20 April, 2012 •
Location: To Be Announced
(Registration Deadline: March 15, 2012)
students from
all disciplines are invited to participate
in the Washburn University Apeiron, an event that will allow
students to showcase their research, scholarship, and creative
activities in a setting similar to a professional meeting. Any
type of presentation used in a professional setting, such as
a poster presentation, an oral presentation, an exhibition, or
a performance, will be acceptable.
The Apeiron will include a Keynote Address and Oral, Poster, and
Performing Arts sessions. During the Oral Presentation session
multiple concurrent oral presentations will take place using
as many different modes of presentation as necessary.
During the Poster Presentation session,
all poster presentations will take place. Following
the event, students will be honored at a reception to which
their mentors, their families and the public are invited.
Each department establishes
its own criteria by which to screen students’ submissions.
The only general criteria are:
- The work must demonstrate creativity and originality.
- The work must be superior to that of a typical term
paper or class project and at a level suitable for
presentation
at a professional forum in your field.
- A faculty mentor must oversee each project or presentation.
Additional information regarding presentations
can be obtained by visiting the
Presentation Information
web page. Current Washburn University graduate and undergraduate
students and recent (previous semester) graduates are eligible
to participate in the Apeiron.
If you are interested in
participating in the Apeiron, please print out the
Sample Registration Form (on the
Registration Information
web page)
where you and your faculty mentor can see what information is required.
Once you and your mentor have worked through the Sample Registration Form,
you will need to submit the information to the on-line Registration Form
(available on the student tab of your my.washburn account in mid February).
