In addition to offering major and minor programs in French, German and Spanish, the department serves the needs of students who are fulfilling general education or departmental foreign language requirements, seeking endorsement to teach foreign languages, wishing to combine a program of foreign language studies with a major in a professional program such as business, or planning to attend graduate school.
The department has a computer lab and a growing collection of audio and video tapes and computer software which students can use to increase their proficiency.
Rules excluding freshmen and sophomores from junior-senior courses (numbered 300 and above) do not apply if the student's preparation warrants placement at the upper division level.
