1) The Minor in Business
The business minor is designed to provide the non-business student with
an understanding of the essentials of business methods and practices.
The requirements for the minor consist of nine hours in accounting and
economics, three hours in management, and nine additional hours in accounting,
business, or economics, including six hours at the upper-division level,
as follows:
Accounting 224 Financial Accounting
Economics 201 Principles of Macroeconomics
Economics 202 Principles of Microeconomics
One of the following:
Business 342 Organization and Management
Business 345 Human Resources
Business 346 Organizational Behavior
Nine additional hours from accounting, business, or economics, including
six hours at the upper-division level.
(EC201 and EC202 count as part of the university's general education
program.)
2) The Minor in International Business
The Minor in International Business provides students with the opportunity
to gain an understanding of the special considerations and implications
of operating a business in a global environment. Students completing the
minor will have an introduction to the basic economics, management, and
marketing principles as applied by business today. Students will be exposed
to the language and operation of business in a multinational and national
environment.
1. Required Business and Economics courses (21 hours).
Accounting 224 Financial Accounting
Business 250 Management Information Systems
One of the following three management courses:
Business 342 Organization and Management, or
Business 345 Human Resources Management, or
Business 346 Organizational Behavior
Business 355 International Business
Business 360 Principles of Marketing
Business 466 International Marketing
Economics 410 International Economics
Students must meet all course prerequisite requirements by completing
Economics 201 and Economics 202 (both approved for general education credit)
outside the minor requirements listed above.
2) Required Language Courses (minimum 10 hours)
Students are required to complete ten (10) credit hours of a modern foreign
language beyond the 101 course.
3) Recommended Study Abroad Experience
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in a study abroad program
offered by Washburn University.
