DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC
The
Department of Music is a unit of the College of Arts and Sciences in the
Division of Creative and Performing Arts. The music faculty engages in creative
activities, research, and public performances as a means of contributing to
teaching effectiveness and to the extension of knowledge in the field of music.
Through musical performances and sponsorship of musical activities, the Music
Department enriches the cultural, aesthetic, and creative life of the
university, community and region. As a department dedicated to presenting its
accomplishments to the public, the music department plays a unique role in
promoting and enhancing the image and prestige of the University.
The
Music Department prepares individuals for careers and further study in the
field of music, while promoting a lifetime of continuous learning and
appreciation for music.
