Students must complete 12 hours from the 15 hour core

CJ 530 Issues in Criminal Procedure
CJ 540 Ethics in Criminal Justice

*Requirement for all students.

- Law Enforcement Specialization-

CJ 660 Seminar in Operational and Staff Planning in Enforcement
CJ 680 Seminar in Staff Development

-Corrections Specialization-
CJ 610 Corrections in the United States

CJ 670 Seminar in Correctional Law

Students who wish to specialize in Law Enforcement or Corrections Administration must complete 9 of the 12 hours in either specialization.

Students may also elect to take up to 12 credit hours in Military and Strategic Studies.

Program Options:

Practicum Option requires the completion of a minimum of 30 hours course work and 6 hours of Practicum.

Thesis Option requires the completion of a minimum of 30 hours course work and 3 hours of Thesis and CJ692.

Capstone Option requires the completion of a minimum of 42 hours course work, including CJ 520 and CJ 693.

MASTER OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Complete all required course work under selected option with no less than a "B" (3.0) average.
2. Obtain no more than two "C('s)" or lower grade in the plan of study.
3. Thesis or Practicum option: complete all required course and successful oral defense of the thesis or practicum.
4. For capstone option: complete all required course work including Capstone Experience and 9 additional credit hours as approved by the graduate faculty for a total of 42 credit hours.
5. Maintain steady progress toward the completion of the degree, normally within seven years of the date of the first graduate course registered on the student's degree plan, but not to exceed twelve years for completion of the program. Students must maintain continuous enrollment each regular semester (fall and spring). A minimum of ONE (1) semester hour of graduate level work will constitute continuous enrollment.
