Degree Requirements for the Bachelor of Social Work Major Courses (52 credit hours) Correlate Courses (10 - 12 credit hours) Students must successfully complete Introduction to Social Work
and Social Welfare (SW 100), Generalist Social Work Perspectives (SW 250),
Micro and Macro Human Behavior in the Social Environment (SW 325 &
SW 326), Social Work Practice I and II (SW SW 352 & SW 353) prior
to beginning Seminar and Field Practicum I (SW 354). Students may complete
Social Work Research I (SW 362) and Social Work Research II: Applications
(SW 363) or Social Work elective courses (SW 390) concurrent with Seminar
and Field Practicum I (SW 354). Students are strongly advised to complete
the University's Math requirement (MA 110 or 116), Physical Education
requirement (PE 198), and the upper division Advanced Composition requirement
(EN 300) prior to entrance into the Field Seminar/Practicum program. (See
below) Basic Requirements: Freshman Composition (EN 101), Junior Composition
(EN 300), Wellness (PE 198), Exploring Mathematics or College Algebra
(MA 110 or 116). Humanities (15 hours): English, Philosophy, Religion, Music, Art
Communication, Foreign Languages, Theater. Math or Science (12 hours): Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy,
Math, Geology. For the social work major, students must complete one of
the following: Evolution (BI 150), Biology of Behavior (BI 202), or Human
Impact on the Environment (BI 203) (other human Biology courses may meet
this requirement). Please consult with your academic advisor for further
information). Social Sciences (15 hours): Anthropology, Economics, History,
Political Science, Psychology, Sociology. For the social work major, students
must complete Cultural Anthropology (AN 112) and one course in both Sociology
and Psychology. Electives: A minimum of 19 hours of elective courses must be completed
to reach the 124 hour minimum required for the baccalaureate degree. A grade of C or better is required for all required courses. Recommended Courses Life Experience |
