The Department of Criminal Justice Criminal Justice Degrees offered by Washburn The degree programs are interdisciplinary in nature and are designed to provide students with: (1) an understanding of the basic principles of the social and behavioral sciences; (2) knowledge of the functioning of the total criminal justice system and the specific agencies which comprise that system; and (3) supervised experience in a criminal justice agency through an internship assignment that allows application of the broad concepts dealt with in the academic setting. Questions concerning the degrees or eligibility for enrollment should be addressed to the chairperson of the department. Student internships are available in a variety of correctional, law enforcement and security agencies, during both the summer months and the fall and spring semesters. Students are encouraged to develop their own internship proposals.
