Recently named our Director of Admissions, Kris hails from San Antonio, Texas. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media from Washburn University, where she was active in her sorority and the Lady Blues tennis team, and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Kansas. Working at Washburn never ceases to thrill her for the opportunities she has to meet new students and lead talented admissions professionals. She encourages all interested students to attend, as there are countless ways to get involved and have fun on Washburn’s campus.
Mackenzie came to Topeka in 2011 from Evansville, Indiana after earning BAs in Public Relations/Advertising and Spanish, the latter of which she taught at the high-school level. So far, she has been quite impressed with the quality of Washburn's academics and the faculty’s commitment to supporting students. When she’s not helping transfer students with the admissions process, she watches movies, plays board games, and fixes up the house, where she likes to hang around with her husband and her dog, a mongrel who is no less cute for being so unusual looking.
Blake is from Independence, Kansas and has lived in Topeka since 2008. He earned his BA in Corporate Communication from Washburn in 2012. As an admissions counselor at Washburn, he works with high school students from southeast Kansas, Johnson County and Missouri. He enjoyed attending a university that was relatable to his mid-sized high school. When he is not on the road Blake likes, to hike, rock climb, cook, catch-up on TV series on Netflix, and playing on Apple devices. One day he hopes to adopt a retired greyhound and they can jam out with one of Blake's 84 Pandora stations!
Matt is from Sabetha, Kansas. He graduated from Washburn University in 2011 with a BBA in Marketing and a BA in Kinesiology, happy with what he’d accomplished with the help of Washburn’s knowledgeable and enthusiastic faculty. As an admissions counselor, he has enjoyed being able to remain close to campus and involved in campus life. A self-proclaimed “small-town kid,” he loves working with students in his recruitment territory, northwest Kansas. When he’s not working, he likes to play basketball, golf, and guitar; watch sitcoms; and completely nerd out for Harry Potter.
Priscilla is a Texas native who has lived in Topeka since 2006, the same year she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University. As an admissions counselor at Washburn, she works with high school students from northeast Kansas and the Missouri border counties. Between spending time with her two dogs and family and friends, she stays busy and has a good time.
