the Washburn Alumni Association and visit the Land Down Under. Cruise the South Pacific aboard Holland America’s ms Volendam and discover Australia’s lively cities and New Zealand’s quaint towns. Fly to Sydney, settled by the Aborigines 50,000 years ago, and spend a day and a half exploring the city. Board the ship for an early evening departure and enjoy a 14-day cruise to Melbourne, Australia; Burnie, Tasmania; Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park; Dunedin, Christchurch, Picton, Wellington, Napier, Tauranga and the beautiful city on the bay of Auckland in New Zealand. Before flying home, see the sights of Auckland, known as the “City of Sails," which has the greatest number of boats per capita of any city in the world. • Private roundtrip transportation
between the Washburn campus and the Kansas City International Airport
• Roundtrip air from Kansas City to Sydney, Australia and from Auckland, New Zealand back to Kansas City *view tentative flight itinerary
• Two nights hotel accommodations at the centrally located, deluxe Swissotel including the night prior to your arrival in Sydney so tour members can get some rest before afternoon sightseeing and an evening in Sydney
•One night hotel accommodations at the Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland
• Private motorcoach transportation while in Sydney and Auckland among the airports, hotels, and piers
• A full day sightseeing in Sydney, including lunch and dinner and other planned activities
• A half day sightseeing including lunch while in Auckland, the “City of Sails”

Day 1, Sunday,
Jan. 31 – Depart Kansas City
Meet at the Washburn campus and board a private motorcoach for
the Kansas City International Airport to begin your journey to Sydney, Australia.

Day 2, Monday, Feb. 1 – Lost Day
Lose a day since you cross the international date line.

Day 3, Tuesday, Feb. 2 - Arrive Sydney, Australia(B, D)
Morning arrival in Sydney. Private transfer to hotel for breakfast and immediate check in. At 3 p.m., begin afternoon and evening sightseeing in and around Sydney.

Day 4, Wednesday, Feb. 3 -- Sydney, Australia (B, L, D)
Breakfast at the hotel, additional morning sightseeing and free time. Arrive at ship at 2 p.m. for embarkation on Holland America's ms Volendam.
Ship departs the port at 6:30 p.m. Meals provided: breakfast at the hotel; lunch and dinner onboard the
ship.

Day 5, Thursday, Feb. 4 -- A day at sea (B, L, ,D)
Relax and enjoy a day at sea. Take advantage of the ship's
amenities such as the pool, casino, culinary arts center,
fitness center, various lounges and eateries or the thermal suite.

Day 6, Friday, Feb. 5 -- Melbourne, Australia (B, L, D)
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- Scenic, historic and artistic Melbourne awaits you. From Mt. Dandenong Observatory, 2,000 feet above sea level, take in expansive views of the beautiful scenery. Explore on
your own or purchase a shore excursion through the ship. Meals
provided: breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard the ship.

Day 7, Saturday, Feb. 6 -- Burnie, Tasmania (B, L, D)
8 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- Visit Burnie Park and animal reserve, or Australia’s biggest eucalyptus tree farm. The Pioneer Village Museum details the city’s history. Check out the Lactos Cheese Factory and treat your palate to fine wine and the 2006 World’s Best Camembert.
One of the town’s most distinctive attractions is the Creative Paper Mill, which features the work of local and visiting artists.

Day 10, Tuesday, Feb. 9 -- Milford Sound and Fiordland National Park, New Zealand (B, L, ,D)

It takes about an hour to sail through the Milford Sound, then arrive at Fiordland National Park.
The extraordinary scenic beauty has earned this region a reputation as a significant sightseeing and walking destination, and a 'Must See' for anyone traveling to New Zealand. Fiordland National Park is now over 1.2 million hectares in size, and encompasses mountain, lake, fiord and rainforest environments. Explore

Day 11, Wednesday, Feb. 10 -- Dunedin, New Zealand (B, L, D)
7 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- Dunedin, New Zealand's oldest city, is well-known for its Victorian and Edwardian architecture and its close proximity to amazing wildlife. Dunedin highlights include Larnach Castle, Speights Brewery, Otago Museum and penguin colonies. Explore

Day 12 - Thursday, Feb. 11 -- Christchurch, New Zealand (B, L, ,D)
7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. -- Christchurch is the South Island's largest city. It's a vibrant, cosmopolitan place with exciting festivals, theatre, modern art galleries and great shopping and fine cuisine. It is known internationally for its award winning gardens. Explore

Day 13 - Friday, Feb. 12 -- Picton, New Zealand (B, L, ,D)
7 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- Home to some of New Zealand’s most serene farmland, lush countryside and sparkling waters, the township of Picton is located at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound and is a renowned tourist destination as well as the gateway to the spectacular South Island. A good selection of local visitor attractions can be found in Picton such as the unique Marlborough Aquarium.

Day 14 - Saturday, Feb. 13 -- Wellington, New Zealand (B, L, ,D)
7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- Wellington is a visitor-friendly, upbeat, compact city, which can claim to be the world’s southernmost capital. It has developed four downtown districts each with a very distinctive character. The Lambton Quarter is an intensive shopping scene with elegant department stores, chain stores and boutiques. The Willis Quarter is focused on lifestyle shopping, and it is here that the city and seascapes merge. The Cuba Quarter embraces a funky community spirit with its alternative lifestyle shopping and pavement cafes. The Courtenay Quarter is renowned as Wellington’s entertainment center, drawing crowds of late night revelers to its lively cafes, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Day 15 - Sunday, Feb. 14 -- Napier, New Zealand (B, L, ,D)
7 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- After a 1931 earthquake flattened the city, most of Napier was rebuilt in Art Deco style. Hence, the city has some of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the world. There are more than 50 wineries, plus dozens of shops selling everything from gourmet cheese and olive oil to meat and wild game. Explore

Day 16 - Monday, Feb. 15 -- Tauranga, New Zealand (B, L, ,D)
8 a.m. to 8 p.m. -- This bustling lifestyle city sits alongside its twin sister, Mount Maunganui in nature’s unspoiled Bay of Plenty - "The Coast with the Most."
The Bay was well named by Captain Cook for its fertile land and friendly inhabitants and these attributes are still evident today. The idyllic lifestyle is enhanced by a sunny climate, endless white sand beaches, excellent surf, bush-clad hills and a myriad of outdoor activities. Explore

Day 18, Wednesday, Feb. 17 -- Disembarkation from Ship, Auckland, New Zealand (B, L) 
Auckland's heart beats to a Polynesian rhythm, its people a melting pot of European, South Pacific and Asian cultures and a strong indigenous Maori heritage. This diversity brings with it an abundance of unique dining and shopping experiences. After leaving the ship, transfer via private motorcoach for local sightseeing and lunch before going to the hotel. Balance of day on your own. Overnight in Auckland.

Day 19, Thursday, Feb. 18 -- Flight Home (B and meals onboard the plane)
Eat breakfast at the hotel then take more time to explore Auckland on your own. Transfer to airport via private motorcoach for mid afternoon flight home.
