Drug Court Evaluation

The District Court of Shawnee County (Topeka), Kansas has contracted with the JCVVS to conduct an evaluation of a Drug Court Grant Project funded by the National Drug Court Institute. Dr. Jay Memmott, Associate Professor of Social Work at Washburn University, will serve as the primary investigator of this three-year project which includes formative and summative evaluation processes. The formative evaluation will include interviewing key stake holders, examination of drug court and treatment records, observation of activities, such as court proceedings and staffings. The process evaluation will also query participants about their experiences and recommendations for program improvements through critical stages of the court process. The summative evaluation will be based on two group quasi-experimental pre- and post-treatment comparison design. Recidivism and relapse measures will be tracked for one year post-program.

Higher Education Web Pages

The universities that comprise the Joint Center on Violence and Victim Studies are unique in that they are three of the very few universities in the country that offer academic degrees in victimology/victim services. The JCVVS is frequently contacted about academic programs and courses of the affiliate universities. In order to offer an easy reference to these inquiries, the JCVVS web page has been revised to offer a comprehensive overview of the academic programs.

The web page also includes pending academic courses, the method of delivery and dates. Many of the courses offered by the three institutions are offered as once a week classes, online classes and special institutes, thus making them expecially appealing to non-traditional students and practitioners.
