Participants at the 2006 NVAA gave extremely high
ratings and very positive feedback for the event.
The program was offered at Washburn University
during the week of June 25-30 with over forty
practitioners from 14 states, the District of Columbia,
and Japan in attendance.
As part of the
professional certificate issued by the Joint Center on
Violence and Victim Studies, participants worked in
groups to identify critical issues and general
recommendations for improving victim assistance.
These issues and recommendations will be presented
to appropriate national organizations, such as the
Office for Victims of Crime, the American Society of
Victimology, the American Bar Association (ABA), and
others.
"I think this program should be
made a requirement for any new advocate within
their first year. Every advocate should have
this
training." Anna Yoder - Indiana
