This self-study online course introduces various concepts and metaphors that are used to describe, explain, and predict human behavior in biological/physical, psychological, social/interpersonal, and spiritual contexts. The primary aim is to help learners remember that at some basic level, all human behavior and life experiences are grounded in a physical/biological reality. Often, the etiology of aberrant behavior cannot be dismissed as simply “mental,” “intrapersonal,” “psychogenic,” “interpersonal,” “social,” “systemic,” or even “contextual” or “environmental.” To do this uncritically when working with clients is not only unethical, it is also, at best, neglectful and irresponsible. Participants will be invited to examine the biology of human behavior with these issues serving as a backdrop to the teaching-learning exchange.
Registrants will be notified how to access the online course within a week of registration. Graduate credit is available as an option for an additional $118, a third the regular price. Individuals interested in graduate credit will be sent a special enrollment form. Tuition is in addition to the course fee.
