
Jay Memmott is a professor in the Department of Social Work at Washburn University. In addition to his years experience in academic and professional education, Dr. Memmott has extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly in a variety of settings. He has directed and/or served as a practitioner for programs in hospice care, family therapy, inpatient psychiatric treatment, and intake. In 1994, he directed the Persian Gulf War Family Support Program which provided counseling and case management services to Gulf War veterans and their families. He has also worked in case management services in managed care.
Dr. Memmott is an experienced foundation and government grant writer. Some of the grants in which he has been involved include a drug court evaluation, an evaluation of a non-custodial parent project, a assessment of financial risks and benefits of employment for adults with psychiatric abilities, a curriculum on substance abuse and its relationship to child abuse, and a study of illicit drug use and transactions in campus bars. He has taught grant writing as both an academic and a professional training course.
