Payment of Tuition and Fees

Once a student has enrolled in classes, she or he is liable for tuition and fee charges. Students who have completed advance/open registration but DO NOT intend to attend Washburn during the term for which they have enrolled MUST drop their courses via the web. Students MUST withdraw to avoid charges for which they will be liable. Please note that printed bills are not mailed. Students and authorized users must use IBOD to view account activity.

Payment Deadline

The payment deadline is the last day each term by which a student’s account must be either paid in full, or a payment plan set up to cover the outstanding balance.  The option of setting up a payment plan for the term is not available after the payment deadline.   After this date, a hold is placed on all accounts carrying a balance not covered by a payment plan.  In addition, a late charge will be assessed. Current payment deadlines are:

Summer 2009 - Early Session

June 4, 2009

Summer 2009 - Full Session

June 8, 2009

Summer 2009 - Late Session

July 4, 2009

Fall 2009

August 28, 2009

Spring 2010

January 29, 2010

Payment for classes enrolled in after the payment deadline is due upon enrollment.

Through the web enrollment process, the student is able to pay online with a credit card or Web check. Either method is accomplished through IBOD, Washburn's "Ichabod Billing on Demand" System, within My.Washburn on the "Students" tab. Electronic checks are generally processed by banks before paper checks and automatic payments from credit cards are processed daily; please take this into account.

The University will accept Master Card, Visa, Discover and American Express credit card payments. These may be made on the Web, in person, or by phone. In addition, the University accepts cash, paper checks, money orders, and employer authorizations. In a case where a student has remitted a check that has been returned for insufficient funds, no personal checks will be accepted to repay that obligation. Any scholarships, grants, or loans coming through Financial Aid to the student's account will be applied first to tuition and fees. Students are able to check whether or not the Financial Aid is ready by accessing their student account online. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure that all financial aid requirements have been completed on a timely basis to avoid delays in receiving aid.

If a student cannot pay the full amount of tuition and fees prior to the payment deadline, a payment plan of monthly installments is available in IBOD. No interest is charged for an installment plan, but a $30 set up fee will be charged. No payment plans may be set up after the payment deadline.

Through IBOD, students and authorized users have the ability to check the current balance, together with the detail to monitor outstanding charges and payments. E-Bills are generated periodically and posted in IBOD. Please note that the e-bill balance will not reflect account activity occurring after it has been generated. The "Current Activity" option in IBOD is updated in real time, and will always be accurate. Students should check their accounts frequently to make sure they have the latest information. It is the student’s responsibility to pay all outstanding charges by the payment deadline, or to set up a payment plan.
