Mindy Rendon, Director

Mindy Rendon

A Texas native, Mindy has been the Director of Residential Living at Washburn since 2008.  She brings a variety of student housing experience from previous institutions: West Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, and University of Kansas.  Her education includes a BBA in Marketing from West Texas A&M University; MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from West Texas A&M University; and is working on her dissertation for her Ed.D. in Higher Education from the University of Kansas.  Her passion for creating a safe, academically-centered living environment for Washburn students drives her to create and implement programs such as Here to Live, Here to Learn.

"I love student housing because I have experienced first hand the impact and the support that it can provide first year students. My on campus housing experience at WTAMU helped create the professional that I am today."

Things on Mindy's bucket list include: taking a train trip to anywhere, teaching a college course, completing her doctoral degree, and growing a garden.

Brad Turnbull, Assistant Director

Brad Turnbull

Brad joined the Residential Living team in July 2012, bringing us his experience as an Assistant Complex Director at the University of Kansas. He received his BA in Music from Truman State University and his MSE in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kansas.  Brad combines his passion for social justice and experience in working with students on issues of diversity with his student housing experience to help create an environment that is inviting and supportive of all identities.

"I love working in student housing because in addition to getting to work with incredible students, we provide students with their most basic needs for shelter and security.  Fulfilling that creates an excellent foundation on which to build academic success."

Brad enjoys watching movies and his fish aquarium, and has an extensive bucket list of international destinations.

Lucas Mullin, Village Complex Coordinator

Lucas Mullin

Lucas is a Kansas native and Washburn alum.  As an undergraduate student, Lucas served in a number of roles in Residential Living, including Resident Assistant, Desk Assistant, and Conference Coordinator.  Now, Lucas has returned to us to be a part of our professional staff, serving as the Coordinator for the Washburn Village Apartments since June 2012.  Lucas brings his experience working with student groups around Washburn's campus, as well as his experience in the different positions within ResLiving.  Lucas received his Bachelors of Public Administration from Washburn University.  He has done some graduate level coursework at Wichita State University, and is currently working on his Master's in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kansas.

"Having the opportunity to work with a student during his/her development process is one of the most rewarding experiences in my job."

In his free time, Lucas loves to skydive, jet ski, run, spend time at the lake, spoil his nephews/nieces, and spend time with friends.

Kim Meehan, Administrative Assistant

Kim Meehan

Kim is our Washburn veteran of the office having been with Washburn University for 9 years.  She brings our office 8 years of experience from working in Admissions and joined the ResLiving staff in July 2012.  While Kim has lived in Kansas for a while, her roots lay in the Windy City of Chicago.

"One part of Res Living that I most enjoy is how diverse the job is. Every day there is a new resident to meet and something new to learn.  I love the energy that comes from our Office Assistants, Desk Assistants, and Resident Assistants."

In her free time, Kim enjoys running, gardening, and tackling home improvement projects she finds on Pintrest.
