The Kansas Sampler Festival in Newton, Kansas, was held May 1/2, 2004, and occurs yearly. We of Dancing Goat Press attended the Sampler on business, but illness dictated that we spent the majority of the weekend in the Newton Medical Center emergency room & intensive care unit.

These are tidbits of what was happening in and around Newton..

Buteos are also known as "buzzard hawks"

None of these birds could fly. They were tethered on display at the Sampler.
