Shawnee County Allied Tribes  held their annual Inter-Tribal Pow Wow
over Labor Day weekend.
The event was held on the east side of Lake Shawnee under hazy skies. The 3-day powwow featured Indian foods, soft drinks, a crafts sale, demonstrations and ritual dancing.

7:00-10:00 pm — Grand Entry & Social Dancing

SATURDAY & SUNDAY:
12:30-1:30 pm — Gourd Dancing
1:30-4:30 pm — Grand Entry & Social Dancing

4:30-6:00 pm — Dinner
6:00-7:00 pm — Gourd Dancing

7:00-10:00 pm — Grand Entry & Social Dancing

SUNDAY:
12:30-1:30 pm — Church Service at the Pow Wow Grounds

POW WOW BUTTONS: We ask all persons 12 years of age and older to purchase a Pow Wow button. Funds generated by button sales allow us to honor all registered singers, dancers, MCs, arena directors, etc. Any remaining funds are used for Allied Tribes projects such as cultural education and next years Pow Wow.
Buttons purchased in advance are $6.00 each and $8.00 each at the gate. The buttons are good for all three days of the Pow Wow. Buttons may be purchased at the following locations, after August 1, 2007:

TOPEKA: Dillions Stores, Mike’s IGA, Wolfe’s Camera & Computers, Topeka City Employee Credit Union
MANHATTAN: Dillions Stores, LAWRENCE: Dillions Stores,

GOOD IDEAS: Dress for weather—caps, hats, sun glasses, umbrellas, and sun screen. Bring a lawn chair, as we have limited seating. Remember, this is Kansas and we usually have a misture of Mother Nature's gifts. LOCK YOUR CAR.

ACTIVITES: Pow Wow dancing throughout the day and evening. Cultural sessions as posted Saturday and Sunday. There will be various Native American Indian food and craft vandors on site.

LODGING: Camping: Tipi and tent camping is free for Pow Wow participants at the Pow Wow grounds. RV camping is available nearby at the RV camp grounds (yes, they do charge). No drugs or alcohol allowed in the camping areas. Motels: for mor information please contact the Topeka Convention and Visitors Bureau at 785-234-1030 or www.visittopeka.travel/ Host Motel: Ramada Inn Downtown, 420 Southeast 6th Ave, Topeka, KS, 66607, 785-234-5400. $65.00/per night Plus Free Breakfast.

SAFETY: For your safety wse will have first aid and security personnel on duty. Security will be provided by uniformed personnel.

Shawnee County Allice Tribes, Inc. is NOT responsible for accidents, theft, etc.

ZERO TOLERANCE POW WOW: We do not tolerate persons who are intoxicated with alcohol or drugs at this event. Such person(s) will not be admitted until sober. If such person(s) are inside the Pow Wow grounds, they will be escorted from the grounds.

- Start out on I-70 going east to Topeka. In Topeka stay on I-70. Take the California Exit 364A. Turn right of exit. Take California Ave south all the way to 45th St. Turn left on 45th St. Turn LEFT onto SE East Edge RD. Take SE EAST EDGE RD past the campgrounds. Follow PowWow signs to Reynolds Lodge.
From I-70 East
- Start out on I-70 west to Topeka (Portions
Toll) In Topeka stay on I-70. Take the California Ave EXIT

- Merge onto I-35 N toward WICHITA (Portions toll) (Crossing into KANSAS). Merge onto I-335 N (Portions toll). Merge onto I-470 W via EXIT 177 toward US-75 / SOUTH TOPEKA (Portions toll). Take the US-75-ALT / US-75 S exit- EXIT 6- toward TOPEKA / FORBES FIELD. Turn RIGHT onto SW TOPEKA BLVD. Turn LEFT onto SE 45TH ST. Turn LEFT onto SE EAST EDGE RD. Take SE EAST EDGE RD past the campgrounds. Follow the PowWow signs to Reynolds Lodge.
