He had never visited Lone Elm, but made the trip over while in that area of southeast Kansas in January 2012. His goals were to see Lone Elm in light of the knowledge that it is the hometown of fellow novelist Charlotte Hinger, whose work he admires. Parts of Lone Elm are tired, but the small town nestles comfortably in beautiful Kansas landscape of earth, trees and sky. |
