Drought in 2002 adversely affected recreational boating on Lake Perry in Jefferson County, Kansas. The two previous years saw flooding. A drop of lake level by some 6 to 8 feet below the norm was a disappointment to slip renters at Rock Creek Marina. Hot weather came with dryness. The fish weren't biting. All in all, a disappointing summer for water-related recreation.

Comparing water levels.
The lake was 18 feet lower (2002) than flood stage (2000). In the current photo (left) the water would have covered the parked truck. The parking lot was covered over in 2000.
