Pre-Medicine Requirements
The following requirements and recommendations are for the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Other schools require essentially the same courses, but inquiry should be made by the junior year to ensure compliance.

In addition to the course requirements listed above, an applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. The bachelor’s degree can be in any discipline.
A general understanding of health care and medicine, based upon employment, volunteer and shadowing experiences, is also expected.
The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is required of all applicants. KU School of Medicine accepts scores from a MCAT taken up to three years prior to enrollment.
Premedical students are encouraged to take some of the following highly recommended (but not required) courses:
