Scholarship Application
Scholarships up to $1,000 per year are available for the study of chemistry at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Chemistry scholarships are linked in amount to ACT scores and are in addition to those awarded by Washburn University.
Qualification Criteria
Scholarship recipients will be selected from those applicants who satisfy the criteria listed below.
- A "B" average in all completed high school work.
- A "B" average in all completed college work for transfer students.
- A combined ACT score of 25 or above.
Recipients are expected to declare a major in chemistry, enroll in CH 151 or higher numbered chemistry course, and participate in the Chemistry Club and other departmental activities requiring student involvement. Half of the scholarship is awarded for the first semester at Wasburn, with the remainder awarded at the beginning of the spring semester, with the expectation the chemistry course is passed with a grade of "B" or better.
Continuation Criteria at Washburn University
The scholarship may be extended for up to 3 years and may be graduated. For consideration of the year-by-year extension the student must make progress toward the major in chemistry by satisfying the criteria listed below.
- During the previous year enrolled in at least one chemistry course at the level of CH 151 or higher each semester.
- Maintain a 3.00 GPA in chemistry and overall in courses taken at Washburn University.
- Participated in the Chemistry Club and other departmental activities requiring student involvement.
- Enroll in 12 credit hours each semester.

In addition to the above application form, you must also send by mail a copy of your high school and college (if applicable) transcripts. A letter of support from your most recent chemistry teacher or guidance counselor may be helpful but is not required.
