Professor Jim Hoogenakker received his B.S. from Iowa State University , his M.A. from the University of Iowa , and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas . The longest-serving member of the Washburn English Department, Dr. Hoogenakker joined the faculty in 1963. His area of specialization is twentieth-century British and American literature; in addition to courses in that field, he regularly teaches the university honors composition class. Jim has been married for 45 years to Sara, who has taught French and English for years in Topeka . They have two married daughters and four grandchildren. Jim loves to play tennis and to fish
