J. Karen Ray

Professor J. Karen Ray received her B.A. from Austin College, her M.A. from Louisiana State University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. She came to Washburn in 1996. Dr. Ray’s specialities are the 18 th century, women’s literature, and 18 th century and contemporary drama. She has performed widely around the state in Chautauqua and was especially noted for her performance as Carrie Nation. Dr. Ray has taken students to Ireland. Last year, she was honored at the Hopkins Festival where she received the O’Connor Award for his contributions to the study of Irish literature.
