The Washburn University History Department will hold the Kansas District 3 History Day 2009 contest Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Memorial Union Building on campus (see links to campus and Topeka maps, below). The 2009 competition theme is scheduled to be The Individual in History .
Kansas District 3 is now made up of the following counties: Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Lyon, Nemaha, Osage, Shawnee and Wabaunsee. (Also see Map of Kansas Districts)
The deadline for entry forms is by 4:30 pm Friday, January 23. Four copies of papers must also be submitted by that time and date. Additionally, web site participants will need to submit four cd-r's and four hard copies of process papers, annotated bibliograpies, and printouts of the site.
Competition fees: $5 per student and this year all district and state registration will be online and available for registration December 15. For more information regarding how to register on-line, go to ks.nhd.org/register. Note that the fee is per student, not per school or per entry.
First and second place winners in each category will be eligible to go on to the next level of competiton: State History Day on April 26 on the Washburn University campus.
