Gabriele Lunte

Assistant Professor of German

I am very pleased to be teaching German at Washburn University. I see this as a unique opportunity to both introduce students to German culture, and assist them in academic discourse by emphasizing critical thinking and self-expression through a communicative approach in the language classroom.

Originally from Germany, I began my advanced education at the University of Sheffield in England. I also attended Justus-Liebig-Universitat, Giessen, Germany and the University of Toledo, Ohio. I received both my Master’s degree and Doctorate degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. My dissertation was on The Catholic Bohemian German Dialect of Ellis, Kansas. My work experience thus far ranges from instructing Freshman Honors Tutorials/ Orientation Seminars/ Courtesy Assistant Professor in German/ and Academic Advisor – all done at the University of Kansas.
