Karen Díaz Reátegui

Assistant Professor of Spanish

Karen Díaz Reátegui was born in Lima, Peru, where she obtained her B.A. in Communications at Universidad San Martin de Porres. She taught photography and TV production at university level, and at the same time she worked as a TV producer of two cultural programs related to Cinema and Literature for national television. She came to the United States in 2002 to pursue a M.A. in Spanish (Spanish and Latin American Literature) at the University of Georgia. Then she studied at Arizona State University where she was awarded a Ph.D. in Spanish (Transatlantic Cultural Studies) in Spring 2008.  She spent Fall 2007- Spring 2008 working as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. 

Díaz Reátegui  is a XX and XXI century specialist, and her research examines the connection between literature, film and mass media. She is also interested in gender studies and urban culture.
