Dr. Nobo joined Washburn's Philosophy Department in1972. Born in Havana, Cuba, he first came to the States as a child and lived in the then small town of Orlando, Florida, for three years, during which time English became his second native language. He completed his secondary studies in Cuba and returned to the U.S., this time to stay, in 1960. He became a naturalized citizen in 1966. Outside philosophy his main interests are friends, literature, movies, chess, and table tennis.
Dr. Nobo's primary areas of interest are metaphysics, philosophy of mind, process philosophy, and Alfred N. Whitehead. He is the author of Whitehead's Metaphysics of Extension and Solidarity, SUNY Press (New York: 1986, 439 pp.), and a co-editor of the Individual and Society, Southwestern Journal of Philosophy Press (Norman:1978, 213 pp.) Dr. Nobo's articles on process philosophy have appeared in various journals and books. His most recent publication is "Whitehead and the Quantum Experience" in Physics and Whitehead: Quantum, Process, and Experience, SUNY Press, (New York: 2004) |
