Historic Gage Park, the centerpiece of the city’s system of more than ninety parks, Gage Park trainfeatures the Topeka Zoological Park, Blaisdell Family Aquatic Center, Helen Hocker Theatre, Reinisch Rose Garden, Hill’s Bark Park, a renovated carousel, and a children’s train ride. The park system has abundant facilities for tennis, volleyball, baseball, soccer. Shunga Park, which winds along the Shunganunga Creek, has six miles of paved and unpaved trails for walking, jogging, skating, and biking. Just east of the city, Lake Shawnee offers public access to fishing, boating, sailing, and swimming.
