Lonergan's "graveyard shift" comedy is set in a New York City apartment building lobby where two security guards and two of "New York's finest" discover that the routine "beat" is fraught with ethical challenges.

About the Playwright

For Lobby Hero, Kenneth Lonergan was nominated for the Drama desk Award for Outstanding Play and two Outer Critics' Circle Awards for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play and the John Gassner Playwriting A ward. His work has been performed in New York at the Williamstown Theater Festival, Promenade, New Group, Second stage, Maked Angels, The Atlantic Theater Company and H.B. Playwrights Foundation; in Los Angeles at the Coast Theatre and the Act I One Act Play Festival; and in London at the Royal Court. He is a member of the Naked Angels.
Lonergan said of Lobby Hero, "I was interested in somebody who's just trying to do their job and be a human being at the same time in an environment that makes it very difficult to be both. Also, it's about the difficulty and complexity of dealing with serious real-life issues, which police have to do all the time while the rest of us sit back and either think ill or highly of them and wonder what we would do if we were in their situation.
