
According to a 2002 College Board survey of 32,000 AP teachers, the AP Summer Institute was their “most effective” professional development activity. Here are just a few of the evaluation comments made by the 166 teachers from Kansas and six other states who attended the 2008 Ad Astra AP Summer Institute.

All of the 2008 Ad Astra AP Summer Institutes are open to both new and experienced AP teachers. Each institute will last 30 hours (the tentative schedule is 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Thursday, and 8:00 am – 12:00 noon on Friday although there may be some variation in times). The fee for each institute is $550 and includes all AP materials, refreshments and lunch Monday through Thursday. Registrations must be made online by July 10, 2009. Cancellations made prior to June 5, 2009, will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be made after that date, but school districts may submit teacher substitutions until July 10, 2009.

Participants may also earn three graduate education hours for any of the AP Summer Institutes for a reduced tuition rate and the successful completion of an academic assignment.
