Marilynn has been a counselor at Washburn University since December, 1993. Prior to coming to Washburn, she worked with the Topeka-Shawnee County Health Agency and Breakthrough House of Topeka. Although Marilynn primarily sees students for personal concerns, she also assists students with academic concerns, hoping to enhance their learning, retention, and recollection of information. Particular areas of expertise are couple’s counseling as well as other interpersonal relationships, dealing with loss and/or crisis, Attention Deficit Disorders, assisting students with problem-solving, and exploration of options to their concerns.

Jamie Olsen, LCP

Jamie began working as a University Counselor at Washburn in the fall of 2008. Prior to coming to Washburn, Jamie worked for three years as a unit therapist at the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas. Jamie also worked at Family Service and Guidance Center during her graduate and undergraduate school years. As a two-time graduate of Washburn, she is glad to be back on campus helping students reach their potential through personal or educational counseling.

Janeen Tacey

Janeen began as an intern at Counseling Services in August of 2012. She is currently in the process of completing her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and is expected to graduate in May 2013. Janeen gained experience in assessment and counseling as a student therapist at the Washburn University Psychological Services Clinic during the previous year. She is eager to assist students with their personal or educational concerns.

April joined the Counseling and Career Services as Secretary in May of 2010. Prior to coming to Washburn, she worked for Baker University in Overland Park. April enjoys helping students as they search for a job and who are seeking counseling services.
