Among her many duties, Kim is tasked with identifying and engaging sign language interpreters to provide services for hearing impaired students. She also consults with staff and faculty regarding disability-related questions or concerns and facilitate the provision of accessible services, facilities and websites. Kim provides information about disability-related services; documentation requirements, rights and responsibilities; and community resources to current and prospective students, faculty, and staff through individual meetings, presentations, and programs to raise and increase awareness of issues and support compliance with government requirements. As a Certifying Official for the Veterans Administration, Kim advises veterans and helps submit certifications of enrollment to the VA each semester.
Kim has been with Washburn for over 15 years and dedicates her time to assisting clientele and faculty to ensure accommodations are set in place in the classrooms and testing areas each semester. As a representative of Washburn University (WU), Kim also dedicates her time to developing and nurturing relationships with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and other veteran services agencies and to identify veteran needs, including, but not limited to, financial and academic matters, and determine resources to meet those needs.
Kim received her Associate of Applied Studies in Human Services in 2009, Bachelor of Applied Science, also in Human Services in 2013 (both from WU) and completed her Master of Science in Education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in May 2016.
Tisha acts as office manager and customer service supervisor, greeting students, faculty, staff and visitors, answering questions and directing inquiries to the proper campus staff person. She coordinates the testing assistance program for students who require extended time and test readers/scribes. Tisha oversees note-taking for students who qualify for those services. Tisha supervises and trains student employees. She also assists students and faculty with completing forms, disseminating to the appropriate contact, and monitoring the outcome of requests.
Tisha received her Associate of Art from Western Oklahoma State College and is currently studying at Washburn University for a Bachelor of Art in Computer Information Science.
