Jeanne is responsible for services, policies, staffing and direction of the office. She evaluates disability documentation, arranges academic accommodations and provides disability management/counseling to students with disabilities. She serves as a Veterans Administration Certifying Official, reviews veterans’ class schedules and degree plans, and submits enrollment certifications for students eligible for military education assistance benefits. She coordinates with other departments, both academic and administrative, such as Residential Living, Facilities Services, University Scheduling, Safety, and the Business Office to meet students’ needs.
Although Jeanne has been at Washburn for over 30 years, Wichita, Kansas, is her hometown. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Friends University, and graduated from Emporia State University with a Masters in Student Personnel/Counseling.
Kim acts as office manager and customer service supervisor, greeting students, faculty, staff and visitors, answering questions and directing inquiries to the proper campus staff person. She expertly coordinates the testing assistance program for students who require extended time and test readers/scribes. She oversees note-taking for students who qualify for those services. As a Certifying Official for the Veterans Administration, she advises veterans and helps submit certifications of enrollment to the VA each semester. Kim supervises and trains student employees. She assists students and faculty with completing forms, disseminating to the appropriate contact, and monitoring the outcome of requests.
Kim has been with Washburn for 11 years and dedicates her time to assisting clientele and faculty to ensure accommodations are set in place in the classrooms and testing areas each semester. She received her Associate of Applied Studies in Human Services in 2009 and is currently working toward her Bachelor of Applied Science, also in Human Services.
