Shawnee County Recycling Department has 3 large recycling containers on the Washburn campus. The containers are located on the south side of Henderson, near the loading dock. Each container is marked for "Cardboard", "Paper" or "Plastic Bottles".
The custodians continue to collect recycled material, so please continue putting your recyclable material in the blue recycling can in your area. If you have large quantities of recyclable material, please submit an I-Service Work Request to schedule a pick up.
We appreciate and wish to thank Washburn faculty, staff and students for your continued help and support of the recycling program. It is your support that has enabled the recycling program to collect, since August 2000, over 3 million pounds of recycled material.
Purpose: The key for a successful recycling program at Washburn is the participation and support from the administration, faculty, staff and students. With our dwindling natural resources, landfills and global warming, recycling will benefit everyone in our community with a cleaner environment, a more attractive campus, an economic advantage for the university, and move the campus towards sustainability.
