Classified Position Openings

All University employees who are paid on an hourly basis are considered "Classified." The application procedures for these positions require that you submit a completed Washburn University Application for Employment to the Human Resources Department. Applications are kept on file for 90 days from the date of receipt.  Applicants can request that their Application be copied and submitted for other classified recruitments within that 90 day period by contacting Human Resources.  New vacancies are advertised in the Sunday edition of the Topeka Capital-Journal as well as numerous placement offices and employment organizations.

Part-Time Secretary II (Allied Health)

High school diploma or GED equivalent and two years of secretarial/clerical experience, or completion of a course of study in office support/management at the post-secondary level and 1 year of relevant experience.  Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.  Proven ability to work independently, proficiency in multi-tasking, and congenial personality.

Employment at Washburn University may be conditioned upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.

Retail Clerk III (COURSE MATERIALS SPECIALIST)

High school diploma or GED equivalent.  Two years of experience in a retail environment.  One year of buying experience.  Six months of experience using a computerized inventory system.  Six months of supervisory experience.  Ability to move and/or maneuver materials and packages weighing as much as 40 pounds.  Attention to detail, negotiation skills, persistence/follow-up and communication skills.

Financial Aid Assistant II

Graduation from high school or GED with 4 years of progressively responsible office experience in a financial/banking/financial aid environment or successful completion of post-secondary education or college coursework equivalent to an Associate's degree.  Experience dealing tactfully with customers in sensitive situations.  Demonstrated English, spelling, grammar, arithmetic and computer, and verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail.  Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures, to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and maintain confidentiality..
