Human Resources seeks candidates for Health Occupations Coordinator at Washburn Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech). This position reports to the Association Dean of Instruction at Washburn Tech.
Identify, plan and direct the Health Occupations program for Washburn Institute of Technology according to goals and priorities of the institution and needs and requirements of the Health Occupations industry.
Develop and submit annual budget requests to support instructional needs of the program. Administer approved budgets, evaluating and tracking expenditures to ensure the appropriate use of available funds.
Identify, compile and analyze data to assess Health Occupations programs and prepare reports as required, needed and assigned.
Work with faculty, Washburn Tech staff and affiliating agencies to schedule courses and clinicals, organize health occupations activities and classes, manage facilities and ensure the needs of Health Occupations department are met.
Assist Students Testing and Enrollment Pathways Services (S.T.E.P.) staff with recruitment and student selection activities, representing the interests of Health Occupations and contributing to the performance of the institution.
Direct and supervise teaching staff for Health Occupations programs, providing feedback and guidance and evaluating individual performance and initiating reward or discipline as appropriate.
Work with Human Resources to recruit new staff. Appoint screening committees, participate in interviews, recommend candidates for hire to effect timely hires.
Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings to keep staff informed of relevant issues and to foster a team environment that will promote learning and student development.
Work with the Assessment Coordinator to ensure that student learning is assessed in all health occupations programs and with Technical Instructors as needed to apply assessment results and adjust and modify programs for continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain working relationships with government agencies that will serve as a resource to learn about changes, issues and concerns relative to compliance with regulations. Implement changes as needed to existing programs in response to regulatory requirements.
Network with industry representatives to remain apprised of changing needs and concerns within the Health Occupations community. Develop and implement changes to Health Occupations programs to ensure students have the skills needed to secure employment after program completion and contribute positively to local employers.
Maintain accreditation for programs within Health Occupations as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED: MSN and experience in nursing administration or teaching. Current Kansas RN license with no disciplinary action pending. Ability to attend meetings off campus and around the state. Valid Kansas driver’s license by date of hire and a driving record that meets University standards.
PREFERRED: Five years of experience in Nursing Administration and/or teaching.
