Recruiter Washburn Tech

Washburn University Human Resources seeks candidates for a Recruiter position at Washburn Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech).  This is a grant-funded position that reports to the TRAC-7 Site Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Recruitment Activities

Schedule visits to high schools and participate in career/college fairs and other recruitment events to communicate educational opportunities available at all of the TRAC 7 consortium schools to external populations such as prospective students, parents, alumni, community college transfer students, adult learners and persons leaving military duty.  Coordinate recruiting efforts involving Kansas Workforce Centers, Kansas Department of Commerce, Adult Education Centers or other organizations to facilitate sharing and coordination of information pertaining to recruitment for the TRAC 7 project.  Coordinate the hosting of prospective students during campus visits, open houses, and other on-campus events to help visitors get to know the consortium schools and learn about the opportunities and advantages that the consortium schools have to offer.  As the recruitment process progresses, identify and recommend scholarships and/or other funding sources.  Develop a plan to communicate with prospective students, referring them to the appropriate advisors at consortium schools, and following up with them to ensure that each receives ongoing assistance in identifying training opportunities according to their interests and abilities. 

Communicate with prospective students, school administrators, guidance/college counselors and other vital decision makers in the career and college planning process.  Follow-up via personal phone calls, written and electronic communication, and use current technology to develop and nurture relationships that will encourage enrollment at consortium schools.  Follow up with each student referral to ensure that appropriate responses have been provided to the prospective student.

Consortium School Involvement and Support

Interpret and analyze data from completed recruitment activities to determine those that have been the most successful in improving overall yield.  Establish goals for continual recruitment for each consortium school and its surrounding territory.  Develop and implement a recruitment plan to maximize recruitment efforts for all assigned TRAC 7 consortium schools and to enhance support of overall admission goals for the TRAC 7 project.  Document all student interactions and information that will be beneficial in the recruitment and reporting process.  Compile and assess data from recruitment activities, successes and challenges, and develop and prepare reports to administrators at each consortium school as well as TRAC 7 Program Management to facilitate assessment of TRAC 7 recruitment activities.

Meet and coordinate with staff and administrators at consortium schools to develop, refine and implement procedures and processes that ensure an efficient, effective recruitment process for TRAC 7 programs. 

Working with TRAC-7 program management staff, analyze current promotional materials; update and develop new brochures, cards, posters, audio and video ads to keep marketing materials accurate, relevant and current.  Identify potential social networking contacts and advertising resources, direct mail, email distribution list notification and other multimedia resources to develop and expand recruitment and outreach efforts for consortium schools.

Coordinate with Student Services staff, instructors, administrators, and other stakeholders for consortium schools to assist in the planning, organizing and coordination of recruiting events to ensure the success of each event.  Compile and assess participant evaluation data and make recommendations for future events.

Build relationships with all consortium school signature program instructors, staff, and administration. 

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:  Bachelor's degree or degree completion in May 2013.  Proven ability to multi-task and handle a variety of assignments.  Commitment to participate in professional activities and organizations related to admissions and enrollment.  Ability to travel for extended periods, to move and/or maneuver materials weighing as much as 30 pounds, and to develop rapport and relationships with a variety of individuals including those from under-represented and diverse student populations.  Flexibility to work irregular hours including some evenings and occasional weekends.

PREFERRED:  Work experience in college/technical school admissions, higher education.  Experience in marketing or sales.  Ability to speak and understand Spanish.
