
Human Resources at Washburn University is seeking applicants interested in serving as Welding Teacher on a part-time, temporary basis at Washburn Institute of Technology. Work schedule will vary according to scheduled classes. Temporary positions are not eligible for benefits. Employment at Washburn University and Washburn Institute of Technology may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of a background check.
The incumbent will be expected to provide a positive role model for students and maintain a positive learning environment in performing the following duties:
Participate in the development, organization, implementation and evaluation of curriculum in the Welding program, adhering to national standards for performance, measurement and competencies as established by the American Welding Society (AWS).
Select and maintain appropriate materials, audiovisuals and equipment to enhance student education.
Present developed curriculum to instruct students in traditional and/or online venues.
Direct, guide and evaluate student performance in the classroom and laboratory setting.
Maintain records of student progress; prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Advise and counsel Welding students regarding their progress toward program completion.
Actively participate in professional organizations; attend seminars, conferences and workshops to enhance and improve instructional effectiveness and maintain an awareness of current issues and developments in the welding field.
Develop and maintain working relationships and constructive interaction with other faculty and personnel of the school, cooperating agencies and community groups.
Participate in promotional activities designed to inform the public about training and education opportunities.
Perform all other functions necessary for the proper operation of assigned courses.
REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED. Two years or 4000 hours of work experience in Welding. Ability to move and maneuver equipment and materials weighing as much as 50 pounds.
PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree. Two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
