
Applications are being accepted for for a Technology Support Technician I position in Information Technology Services (ITS). This position reports to the Manager, Technology Support Center.
Installation and Maintenance
Maintains computer software images for placement on the computer hard drives of desktops, in labs and in mediated classrooms, reflecting ITS configuration standards, Active Directory policy and categories approved by ITS leadership.
Installs images and additional licensed software supported by ITS on desktop, lab and mediated classroom computers, and additional software on desktop, lab and mediated classroom equipment with departmental and ITS leadership approval.
Installs, and registers on the network, University computer systems in labs, offices and mediated classrooms.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshoots hardware and software issues through diagnostic tests, Internet research and vendor consultation, and implements best course of action for resolution.
Works with vendors, online and through telephone support, to obtain replacement parts and installs computer hardware components.
Support
Provides telephone and face-to-face support to Washburn employees regarding computer software, hardware and network issues; refers issues to other areas of ITS for resolution when necessary.
Other
Maintains records of daily activities including installations, troubleshooting and repairs, for the purpose of tracking user-specific issues, equipment maintenance and invoicing customers for parts.
Updates inventory records as necessary to provide for correct location and identification of computer assets.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED. One year of experience performing desktop computer installation and maintenance. Basic knowledge of PC and/or Mac software and hardware and networking. Problem-solving, organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of information. A+ Certification or completion of A+ Certification within 6 months of hire. Ability to move equipment weighing as much as 50 pounds on a daily basis.
PREFERRED: Microsoft Professional Certification. Associates degree in area of computers or electronics. Experience working in an educational environment.
