Vacancy - Graphic Design Lecturer

FULL-TIME LECTURER GRAPHIC DESIGN - DEPARTMENT OF ART (Recruitment Number 10340212): The Art Department at Washburn University invites application for a full-time, non-tenure track, one year with possibility of renewal, lecturer position in graphic design beginning August 2012. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester and assisting with departmental responsibilities including advising students, arranging internships in the field, and providing expertise in contemporary design. The successful candidate will be instrumental in revising the graphic design curriculum and course structure. The following skills are of highest priority in our department: Effective design aesthetics for contemporary media; Expertise in using the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign software); Experience with print processes from desktop to industrial printing; Knowledge of integrated design practices utilizing web, print, and social media, Familiarity with business practices of the design field. Qualifications : MFA preferred, degree beyond the Bachelor's level required; 2 years' experience as a professional graphic artist or graphic arts educator required.
