PEOPLE TO PEOPLE ORAGANIZATION :

Beginning in 1995, Dr. Judith Lynne McConnell-Farmer has served as the Delegation Leader for several People to People International Organization professional trips to other countries. Following is a list of the Delegations which she has lead for the People to People International Organization:

Delegation Leader, The United States Early Childhood Education Delegation to Cuba, sponsored by The People to People International Organization. January, 2001.
I lead twenty delegation members from twelve different states to Cuba. All of the delegation members were early childhood professions. We visited child care centers and elementary schools in Havana, Cienfuego,and Valadero, Cuba. We dialoged with several government officials and had discussions with classroom teachers and directresses of schools.



Delegation Leader, The United States Early Childhood Education Delegation to the Peoples' Republic of China, sponsored by The People to People International Organization. October, 1999.
An eleven member delegation of early childhood educators and early childhood professors from nine different states accompanied me to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Xian. In each city we visited early childhood centers (primarily kindergartens) and dialoged with early childhood teacher trainers. The highlight of the trip was visiting a village, Gengcun, which is known for its storytellers. We visited there for two days, traveling house to house listening to these renowned storytellers.



Delegation Leader, The United States Early Childhood Education Delegation to Russia and the Czech Republic, sponsored by The People to People Organization International. March, 1998.
I lead an eighteen member delegation of early childhood educators and early childhood teacher educators from The United States to Russia and the Czech Republic. We shared and learned with teacher educators, teachers, administrators, as well as children in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Prague. The delegation represented thirteen states and the Bahamas.

I chaired the thirteen member delegation consisting of university professors, classroom teachers, and a child development specialist from the United States Army Department of Defense. Eight different states were represented by the delegation. We visited early childhood settings, early childhood teacher training programs at Universities, and had meetings with our professional counterparts in Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, and Shanghai.



Delegation Leader, North American Delegation for Early Childhood, Reading, and The Arts in Education. The Joint United States/Spain Conference on Education Sponsored by The People to People International Organization. December, 1995.
Along with the Chair of the Spanish Delegation, I was responsible for coordinating presentations, a poster session, and trips to schools in Barcelona. All meetings and school visits were in Barcelona. My responsibilities included giving several small introductory, summary, and concluding remarks on presentations before the delegations and the general membership of the conference.
